Nathan and Mike’s story began way back in 1994, in a small town in Upstate NY known as Ithaca. They both ventured to that fine little burg to study and master the craft of “Acting” at a school called Ithaca College. And master it they did...

After four life changing years entrenched in deep study, and a monk’s like dedication to their craft, Nathan and Michael found themselves loaded (in both senses of the word) side by side into a small U-haul truck. The two friends set sails for the great Isle of Manhattan. It was there that they would embark upon a journey that would twist and turn, eventually landing them both in the Vail Valley of Colorado as Co-Owners of Pink Monkey Solutions.

Nathan Cox

While in NYC, Nathan first discovered his passion for the world of theatrical lighting. At first in an effort to simply pay the rent and to escape the strangling grip of the food service industry, Nathan found himself doing lighting on a play. It was there that his love affair with the luminous was born. Quickly his passion grew and before long Nathan was working full time as a lighting technician and simply put... “loving it!”

In 2001 Nathan found himself married and embarking again on a voyage that brought he and his lovely wife, Inga, to The Vail Valley. He immediately found work as the Master Electrician of the Vilar Center in Beaver Creek. There he dazzled and delighted all who had the pleasure of seeing his work. However, the Vilar Center could not fulfill the artistic beast that grew within Nathan and after 4 years of faithful service he branched out on his own to form Cox Designs.

That proved to be the vehicle that brought him to where he is today... at the helm of the S.S. Pink Monkey. With his company Cox Designs, Nathan found the world of Event Decor Lighting and to coin a phrase “it was a match made in heaven”. This has proved to be one of Nathan’s most successful mediums and he has finally found the drink that would quench his artistic thirst.

He flourished while running Cox Designs until time that the winds of fate would blow his old friend Mike through the Vail Valley and also usher in the birth of Pink Monkey Solutions...

Michael Baugh

Michael spent his time in NYC trying to reinstitute the genre of the “Renaissance Man.” He seemed to have a passion for everything. When he could manage to stand up straight he tossed his cap into the rings of actor, musician, food service worker extraordinaire, world traveler, playboy, event marketing guru, and mostly misunderstood babbling drunkard.

Over the years he would reunite with his old friend Nathan and enjoy a break from the bone crushing clutches of the food service industry and work lighting jobs in the theater. He didn’t yet know it, but the fates were already working on he and Nathan. Eventually, Michael grew tired of a life of debauchery and he found himself working for a great soft beverage company. He embarked on national tours using his newly found vibrant personality to sing the praises of the miracle elixir known as Snapple. It was at this time that Michael began his long affair with the world of Events. Little did he know that he was already aboard the ship of destiny on course to collide with an old friend.

In 2003 Michael found himself embarking on yet another voyage. One that he thought would take him to distant land known as Los Angeles. It was on that journey that one fateful day he stopped for a tank of gas and to visit an old friend in The Valley of Vail. Like many before him, Michael was unable to escape the dizzying effects of this land of Utopia and without warning he aborted his westward journey to Los Angeles and took up home in the mountain top retreat.

Always sure that his stay was temporary, Michael, continued his Snapple crusade during the summer for his first 2 years in The Vail Valley, and enjoyed a rekindled brotherhood with Nathan. The two spent many nights daydreaming of how they might combine to rejuvenate that creative force that was sparked oh so many years ago in Uhaul on the way to Manhattan. And there the idea was born... to marry Nathan’s unparalleled talents in event lighting design and Michael’s unbridled enthusiasm for events into something the world had never seen the likes of before.

And that something is... Pink Monkey Solutions!

Claire Tyler

The first addition to “The Monkey’s” family was Claire Tyler. Claire joined “The Monkey” in the summer of 2008. It seemed inevitable for “The Monkey” to evolve from simply providing event lighting into the full service event design and production boutique it is today. The first step of that journey was to bring on Claire.

Claire has a very rich and diverse background in theater, interior design, visual merchandising, and textile science. This background made Claire the perfect candidate to head up Pink Monkey’s décor department. With Claire’s expertise Pink Monkey Solutions has branched into offering custom drape, furniture rental, décor styling, and much more.

Stephen Ridgway

The second addition to “the flock" has been Stephen Ridgway. Stephen, like all the other Monkeys, has a background in theater as well. Stephen and Nathan came to know one another years ago while working at The Vilar Center for The Performing Arts in Beaver Creek, Colorado.

Stephen’s passion and area of expertise is in audio engineering. Stephen recently received a master’s degree in audio engineering and has enjoyed touring the country with national recording artists as a sound engineer. This past winter Stephen accepted an offer from The Monkey to build an audio department.

Stephen and The Monkey are excited to raise the bar of event sound and introduce to the events world what we are calling “experiential sound”. Stephen is also what we call a “triple threat” not only is he an incredibly talented audio engineer, but he is also extremely proficient in lighting, and a whiz with the pipe and drape.
